It's totally random, but I think the reason it feels like that is because you can't psychologically manipulate the ai into thinking it knows what you've picked xD

Madness: Premeditation I remember when I was younger raging at this game since I wasn't able to beat it, and now...............................................I still cannot manage to beat it but I'll say one thing to the duo who created this game.Level 5 was the problem ONLY THE GODDAMN FIFTH LEVEL IF IT DIDN'T EXIST THE ENTIRE PROBLEM WOULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED!
